Egg vs. Feed Math

To calculate your cost per one dozen eggs: Take the monthly grand total of eggs collected, divide that by 12 to find the monthly dozen total.  Divide your monthly feed bill by the monthly dozen total for your flock.  This is your cost per dozen eggs.

Example:

172 eggs total this month divided by 12 eggs in one dozen = 14 dozen.

$42 feed bill this month divided by 14 dozen = $3 per dozen

That’s 25 cents per egg!!
